With the announcement of Nvidia’s Geforce Now bringing compatibility for more than 650 high quality games to Chromebooks, Stadia has entered the second phase of its life-cycle. It now has some pretty heated competition. Although the services look to offer drastically different takes on the future of gaming, it can be argued that Geforce Now is more attractive to more people since it leverages your existing Steam and Epic games libraries. This month, Stadia Pro subscribers are receiving another six free games. Many who have kept with the service since the beginning are now in possession of 60 free games for just $10 per month! One point for Stadia as Geforce Now only supports 35 of the games I own.
The Stadia team is also dropping a few games from the service, so you’ll want to claim them before it’s too late. Lastly, we’ll discuss the deals and discounts available to you and drool over Windbound a bit more before it launches! Without further ado, let’s get into the games!
Gunsport
It’s cyperpunk volleyball with guns. The game is all about keeping the ball in the air, shooting it into a goal at a choice moment. The more times the ball passes the net, the more points it’s worth, upping the stakes with every pass. And your shots are limited, so you have to aim carefully, time your shots with care, and communicate with your teammate.
Hitman 3 Season 1
HITMAN 3 is the dramatic conclusion to the World of Assassination trilogy and takes players around the world on a globetrotting adventure to sprawling sandbox locations. Agent 47 returns as a ruthless professional for the most important contracts of his entire career.
Supported by his Agency handler, Diana Burnwood, 47 joins forces with his long-lost friend Lucas Grey. Their ultimate mission is to eliminate the partners of Providence, but they are forced to adapt as their hunt intensifies. When the dust settles, 47 and the world he inhabits will never be the same again.
As a Stadia Pro subscriber, you’ll get Season 1 of Hitman 3. While the trailer shows all three seasons, please keep in mind that season 2 and 3 will be paid upon release! I have no doubt that these two subsequent seasons will be a part of the free Pro games lineup in the future as Stadia gets more games.
Embr
Embr is a frantic firefighting game set in a hyper-capitalist reality where traditional emergency services are a thing of the past. Scale buildings, smash windows, fight fires and save lives either alone or with up to four players. Embr is the last stand in a world ablaze.
As you can see in our review of embr, it’s a very fun and well thought out game. What you may not realize upon playing embr is that it’s evolved a lot since it entered early access. Not only can you be an embr firefighter, but you can also now participate in embr eats, an Uber Eats-like service, use a parachute, get new outfits and much more! In fact, the embr team has released an early access roadmap stretching into next year! Take a look below:
Super Bomberman R
Bomberman is back as Super Bomberman R! Place bombs and collect power-ups to blast your way through classic ‘Battle’ or ‘Story’ mode.
Stadia’s first game to leverage their long-awaited Crowd Play feature, Super Bomberman R lets you take on 63 other players at once in a massive multiplayer battle. Crowd Play also lets you join straight from a Youtuber’s game stream by requesting a spot in queue!
Hello Neighbor
Hello Neighbor is a stealth-horror game released in 2017 on most major platforms. It is a unique take on a horror game, where a child is tasked with sneaking into the neighbor’s house to discover the mysteries locked away in the basement. Many horrors await in the cartoony world where the neighbor’s unrelenting chase induces a sense of dread around every corner.

Apparently, Hello Neighbor is a big hit with the kids. My four year old is not allowed to play this, but I can imagine the appeal to a younger audience who may be allowed to play scary games. The whole thing is quite a short experience and centers around a more serious game of hide and seek. Maybe the best way to experience this game is on a livestream with you all so you can see my reaction since I generally dislike scary games!
Metro Last Light Redux
It is the year 2034. Beneath the ruins of post-apocalyptic Moscow, in the tunnels of the Metro, the remnants of mankind are besieged by deadly threats from outside – and within. Mutants stalk the catacombs beneath the desolate surface, and hunt amidst the poisoned skies above.
Regarding Metro: Last Light Redux, I have only two things to say. Last Light is a definitive or director’s cut of Metro Redux, so that’s why I’m simply using a trailer for the core game above, and I’m not super fond of the Metro series. It’s probably for many of you, but personally, I’ve never enjoyed the Russian post-apocalyptic setting and gameplay. At some point, when is too much Metro on Stadia Pro too much? I vote we’ve already reached that thresh hold. While this is my feeling on the matter, I will say that there have been some pretty interesting story bits as I played that have kept me engaged. I’ll have to dive back in and give it another chance, but it’s becoming difficult to tell these games apart on the platform!
Games leaving Stadia Pro
On August 31, the Stadia team will remove Kona, GRID and Get Packed from the Stadia Pro lineup. If you simply claim them and add them to your library for free as a Pro subscriber, you’ll retain them so long as you keep your subscription active. We always say that it’s best to claim them and gain interest later than it is to miss out and regret it! What’s interesting is that Kona marks the quickest game to leave Stadia Pro as it was just added last month.
Windbound launches on Stadia!
Set a course for enchanted seas in Windbound. Scavenge scarce resources, battle immense beasts, and encounter ancient magics in a vast archipelago where your quest alternates between serene calm and extreme peril.
In what looks like a mix of Water World and Zelda: Breath of the Wild crosses Disney’s Moana, Windbound drops on Stadia on August 28, 2020 for $29.99 USD. I’m particularly excited for this game as I think we need more single player open world exploration games on the platform.
Just keep in mind that if you pick the game up in its first week of launch you’ll get some extra Ancestral gear, namely attire, an ore and a knife. This game looks incredible, but we can’t help but feel it will be a given as a free Pro game before long. That being said, I’m still buying it on the 28th as I strongly believe in supporting indie developers!
