Within the next 24 hours, gamers across Europe will be able to get a taste of Google’s cloud gaming platform for the first time! In a blog post this morning, the company announced support for eight new locations, bringing Stadia’s total coverage to 29 countries! Previously, it was only available in the UK, US, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Ireland, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and the Czech Republic. The new European countries are:
- Austria
- Czechia
- Hungary
- Poland
- Portugal
- Romania
- Slovakia
- Switzerland
With eight free games for Pro subscribers for the month of December which includes the highly anticipated Outcasters and Submerged: Hidden Depths, new members in these countries can sign up immediately upon the service’s launch using just their Google account. After doing so, they will join the rest of us in enjoying a total of 31 free games under their monthly subscription. Destiny 2 and Super Bomberman R are completely free to play with no Pro requirements too, so the Stadia team has made plenty available to do with little to no risk for the influx of users they should soon receive.
I’ll take a moment to point out that gamers in South American countries like Brazil, Peru, Chile, Colombia, Panama, and Argentina have been blowing up Stadia’s official Twitter on nearly every post begging for them to bring the service their way. Because the team often replies with something to the effect of “Our goal is to bring Stadia to as many people as possible”, it may only be a matter of time before we get an official announcement on support for those regions – at least, that’s our hope. We’ll keep you all posted if that happens, so stay tuned!
