Over the weekend, we reported on the possibility of Samsung releasing an upgraded version of the popular Chromebook Pro. In the article, we shared some benchmark scores for a device powered by an Intel Skylake Core m7 processor. Along with some beefed up RAM and storage, the yet-to-be-released Chromebook was speculative at best.
This evening we may have just received confirmation that a higher-end Samsung Chromebook Pro may, in fact, be very close at hand.

a recent search for Chromebook Pro on Google brought up an Adwords campaign from Samsung stating an i7 Intel chip specifically.
An attachment in the email contained a screenshot of Google search results for the Samsung Chromebook Pro. Right at the top of the list was a typical sponsored ad for none other than Samsung for obvious reasons. I immediately repeated the search for myself and here are my results.
Right there in blue and white, I found a Core i7 Samsung Chromebook Pro in an Adwords campaign ad. Clicking on the link took me to the current m3 Chromebook Pro but it looks pretty clear that Samsung is very, very close to launching an even more powerful version of the Pro.
Now, the benchmarks we shared pointed to a Core m7 processor. I really don’t have a full grasp of how much variance there are between the Core processors but I have found that there is a fanless Core i7 chip and it’s possible that the benchmark tests just registered as a Core m7 instead of an i7.
With Intel’s current nomenclature structure, who knows?
Regardless, Samsung has something in the works. With Google’s focus on enterprise, I would almost bet this device will target the business sector as more and more corporations adopt the Chrome environment.
We’ll be keeping a close eye on Samsung for word on this Chromebook. I would suspect we may see it around the same time Chromebook ‘Eve’ graces us with its presence.
