With just less than a month before the rumored hardware event, Google is steadily expanding their footprint with its current #madebygoogle products.
The latest benefactors of Google’s mesh-capable Wifi router are broadband users in Singapore. The announcement came at the end of August but the release of Google Wifi came in the form of a rare, exclusive partnership with one of Singapore’s leading telcos, StarHub.
StarHub is a major provider of Voice, Broadband, Cable and Mobile services in Singapore and for now, will be the sole source for attaining the Google Wifi system. For new customers, Google and StarHub are offering a pretty lucrative deal on a three-pack of the wifi routers.
In order to take advantage of the deal, customers must subscribe to a 200Mbps or 1Gbps broadband plan. With the 1Gbps plan, StarHub will sell you the three-pack of Google Wifi for 24 interest-free installments of $15(Singapore). That equates to roughly $269 U.S. which is coincidentally about what you can buy it for here in the states.
StarHub has sweetened the deal even more by offering free installation as well as a 6-month subscription to their Junior Protect Basic parental control tool. Junior Protect gives parents the ability to monitor, limit and manage online time for their children.
The exclusive partnership between Google and StarHub is a bit out of the norm for the search giant but likely is a foot-in-the-door move to expand hardware availability in Asia.
For existing customers under contract, StarHub has set up a contact form where you can express interest in the Google Wifi promotion. Presumably, their plans for existing plans will directly relate to the response from these queries.
