Google Meet has been making so many improvements lately, like custom backgrounds and blur, virtual whiteboards with Jamboard, and even a 50 person grid view. It comes as no surprise to me that we continue to see new features roll out as it seeks to crush its competition. Today, Google announced that you will soon be able to mass approve knocks to let people join your meetings!
When multiple people request to enter your room simultaneously, you’ll be able to admit or deny them in bulk with a single click in order to reduce the number of interruptions to an ongoing call. You will, of course, need to be the meeting organizer or host in order to do so. This new feature will take about two weeks to roll out to everyone, but you may see it become available if you’re one of the lucky ones that Google’s staged rollout favors. Rapid release domains will start seeing it today while Scheduled Release domains will have to wait until November 16th.
Personal Google accounts will be able to take advantage of bulk knock approval as well as Workspace users, regardless of their tier. Google has been pretty good about giving their regular, non paying customers these awesome, new features at the same time as their enterprise ones lately. The only thing that seems to be missing now is the ability to tick specific users for denial of entry before clicking the bulk approval button. It’s kind of weird to think that if everyone is allowed into your meeting except for one or two individuals, you’ll have to manually admit people one by one, barring you from using the ‘Admit all’ button entirely.
