There has been a lot of buzz around Google Wifi and the Google Home smart-speaker as of late. From Robby’s revelation stemming from the tear-down of the smart-assistant to some great discussion from our readers on the availability of Google Wifi in the land down under.
It now appears that, while we were waxing philosophic, Google had already set into motion their plans to bring the #madebygoogle devices to our friends in Australia.
Just a few hours ago, the official Google Australia blog announced that Google Home and Google Wifi would be officially on sale starting July 20th. This comes as great news not only to our friends in Australia but the global tech community as it shows Google’s commitment to expanding the reach of their products.
The announcement also came with a rehashed version of the Google Home commercial that was aired here in the U.S. last October following Home’s release. Now, instead of hearing the sound a whale makes the Assistant cues up the familiar sound of a Kookaburra.

Google took it one step further with the Australian rendition of the Google Home. The official Aussie version of the Assistant comes fully equipped with a native accent and a dictionary of terms most of us ‘mericans have never heard of.
Google Home will launch with the same offering of 6 months of YouTube Red free for new users and will be priced at $199AUD. You can pick one up starting the 20th from the Google Store, JB Hi-Fi, Harvey Norman, Officeworks, The Good Guys, Telstra, Optus and Qantas Store.
Google Wifi will also be available on Thursday in single packs or 3-packs. The mesh-capable wifi router is capable of creating a seamless in-home network that comes with features like scheduled timers, mesh technology and network assist to ensure your devices are connected to the clearest channel.
Google Wifi will be available for $199AUD for a single device and $499AUD for the 3-pack. You can find them Thursday at the Google Store, JB Hi-Fi, Harvey Norman, The Good Guys, and Officeworks.
