Did anyone else here own a Wii and skip out on Crystal Chronicles? Maybe I was one of those unfortunate people who missed out on something great. Every time I went to buy it it wasn’t in stock at my local Gamestop. Man, were times different then. As much as I miss browsing for long periods of time at the spines of game boxes while I sit cross-legged on the floor as people try to walk around me, I sure am glad for the modern distribution platforms and methods because on August 27th, 2020 we’ll all be able to play Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles as a remaster on our Chromebooks, phones and even on the Switch!
Since long ago, the dangerous gas miasma has threatened to consume the world. Crystals hold back the gas, but their power is not eternal. Follow the journey of four classes of adventurers on a perilous mission to protect their home. These are the “Crystal Chronicles.” FINAL FANTASY CRYSTAL CHRONICLES Remastered Edition features an online multiplayer mode allowing you to caravan with friends wherever they may be. And now, you can keep the adventure close at hand by playing on smartphones!
The reason why I’m excited for this game is because the combat isn’t turn based like previous Final Fantasy games and instead is real time in the open battlefield. I also love that in what seems to be a growing trend, Crystal Chronicles will feature cross platform support! That means that you can not only play online with your friends across Playstation 4, Switch, Apple and Android devices and Chromebooks, but your saved data is also transferable between those devices. I’m willing to bet that in true Square Enix fashion, they require you to have a transfer code instead of a direct cloud save solution. Anything is better than nothing, but here’s hoping for the latter.
