The popular ‘roguevania’ from publisher Playdigious is on sale on the Google Play Store right now for just $5.99 and for that price alone, you get over 30 hours of gameplay! For those of you who didn’t get it for free as a Chromebook perk a few months ago, now is the best time to grab the game and start playing. Aside from its mobile-centric interface revamp, it’s the same full experience you would get on other platforms with no ads, no free to play mechanics, and pay to win shenanigans. It’s currently $24.99 on the Switch eShop and Steam right now, so for just a few bucks, this is an insane deal that will only last for six more days.
Play as a failed alchemic experiment and explore the sprawling, ever-changing castle to find out what happened on this gloomy island…! That is, assuming you’re able to fight your way past its keepers.
Dead Cells is a roguevania action platformer from Motion Twin that will require you to master frantic 2D combat with a wide variety of weapons and skills against merciless minions and boss.
Kill. Die. Learn. Repeat.
The 30-hour gameplay estimate doesn’t even account for the fact that the levels are procedurally generated and are non-linear, so you can actually get a lot more out of it than that! The developer – Motion Twin – has already planned a full content roadmap for next year and you’ll get those updates at no extra cost. They actually just released their Legacy Update on October 21st which added new weapons, skills, biomes, enemies, and bosses!
The kicker is that Dead Cells comes with full controller support and makes for a great Chromebook game. You can pair up the Logitech’s F310 gamepad or any other compatible Bluetooth controller and take part in the brutal 2D souls-like action immediately. Everything about this game sets a standard for what publishers should strive for on mobile devices and Chromebooks and I think it’s a stellar deal at its discounted price.
