Chrome extensions have grown into a vast array of useful, productive, ability-extending pieces of software for Chrome and Chrome OS both. I’m sure there are many of them you would find yourself at a loss without. I know quite a few that I use on a daily basis that, if removed, would really cramp my productivity.
Back before becoming a Chrome OS full-time user, I would try out different browsers and always come back to Chrome in no small part for the extensions.
They are truly a beautiful thing.
And sometimes, they are just fun. Enter Y’allifier.
This extension does something that is neither necessary or that useful, but it shows us what is possible with extensions and provides a bit of comic relief while at it.
According to the extension creator Steve Hayes:
Y’all fills an important need in the English language: a “proper” plural second-person pronoun that is distinct from “you,” which can be singular or plural. It’s also less ridiculous than Pittburgh’s “yinz” and more succinct than “you all.”
I tried the extension and it worked quite well, turning all of the more formal “you all”s into “Y’all”s. Again, nothing you really need, but a very interesting, simple and creative extension that shows just how wide the breadth of Chrome Extensions has become.
You can get the extension here and view a Twitter feed Steve created to show off the extensions abilities here.
See y’all!
