NBC’s Peacock streaming service seemed to me like a subscription I probably wouldn’t invest in this year, but now they’re getting exclusive rights to stream The Office (US) – one of my absolute favorite shows. To sweeten the deal, Peacock is now fully integrated into your Chromecast with Google TV and the Google TV app!
You should immediately begin seeing the new service as an option under ‘ways to watch’ in the Google TV interface on any listing that is a part of the Peacock backlog of content. This includes shows like 30 Rock, Eureka, Downton Abbey, Hell’s Kitchen, Frasier, House, Heroes, Monk, Psych, The Munsters, The King of Queens, and more – wow.
If you’re as excited about being able to watch The Office on your Google TV app or new Chromecast as all of us are, Peacock allows you to stream the first two seasons completely free. The service costs only $5 per month and gives you access to thousands of hours of movies, TV shows, live sports, and more. If you want to skip out on the ads (some shows still contain ads due to streaming rights – Peacock channels, events, and a few shows and movies), you can pay $9.99 per month.
If you’re not seeing Peacock listed as a service on your Chromecast with Google TV or if you’d like to get suggestions for its content, you can visit settings > accounts & sign in > your services
to make sure that it’s toggled on. Can your wallet handle yet another subscription service? If you’re already using Peacock, what do you think of it so far? Let us know in the comments!
