Sometimes it is the simple stuff. As many new Chromebooks are hitting the market, just as many new Chromebook users are showing up.
Tasks like setting wallpapers can get lost in the shuffle, so we wanted to cover a few things.
How To Set A Wallpaper
This is a simple task and can be handled in a couple ways.
First, you can simply go to your desktop and right click (2-finger click or tap) and select set wallpaper. You will be met by a pretty good selection of included wallpapers in a few categories. To be honest, they are pretty great.
However, if you want a custom wallpaper, you’ll need to click over to the custom tab and click the + button.
At that point, you’ll be met with the file manager and you can select whatever image you’d like. Do keep in mind your screen’s resolution. You’ll have the option of stretch (which will stretch the image to fit, usually distorting it), center (full size, right in the middle), or center crop (centered, but cropped to fit). Center crop is usually the best option. Just make sure you’ve picked a picture with enough pixels to fit your display.
The second option would be to simply open your file manager, right click on the image, and select set wallpaper. You’ll be met with the same wallpaper selection screen and can follow the options above.
So, Where Do You Get Great Wallpapers?
There are great wallpaper sites all over the internet, to be honest.
My personal favorite, by a long shot, is Interfacelift.com. This site constantly (and I mean daily) gets new, high-quality wallpapers. Granted, the majority are landscapes, urban, or animals, but they are fantastic.
And navigating the site is simple, too. Pic the wallpaper you like, set the resolution, hit download. You’ll be directed to a page with only that image on it. Right click it and download it.
A couple more sites include pexels.com and wallpaperswide.com, but a Google search gets you to many options pretty quickly.
And that’s pretty much it. Find a pic you like and set it up. Thankfully, Chrome OS makes this so painless it is easy to do often.
