The latest Developer channel update has brought us a new accessibility feature in the upcoming Chrome OS version 59. For users with impaired vision, Chrome OS offers an enlarged mouse cursor. The option is available in the accessibility options of the setting menu. If you have ever fiddled with it you know the cursor is MASSIVE.
While very effective if you need it, some users may want something a slight bit less daunting. Thanks to François Beaufort, we see a solution is in the works. The Chrome evangelist’s recent post on Google Plus shows an adjustable mouse cursor in the latest developer build of Chrome OS 59. To enable the feature you must first move your Chromebook to the Developer channel (not Mode) then enable the experimental flag by typing the following code in your omnibox. (url address bar)
chrome://flags/#ash-adjustable-large-cursor
Once enabled you should see something similar to the image above and you can try out the adjustable cursor yourself. Keep in mind, the Developer channel can be a little buggy. Additionally, moving to the Developer channel won’t delete and data but moving back to Stable or Beta will. Back up, back up, back up. Did I say back up? Yeah, save your data in the cloud or removable storage.
