Yesterday the Chrome team announced the arrival of Chrome 57 for Windows, Mac and Linux users. The latest release of Google’s browser brings with it a handful of enhancements and a large number of security fixes.
36 Total security patches have been added in this release and along came some pretty hefty rewards for the developers who discovered the vulnerabilities. You can find more details about the bounties at the Chrome Release Blog.
In the ongoing pursuit of secure browsing, Chrome has also added a new url badge that alerts users when they are browsing on a sure Chrome page or site.
Another addition the Chrome for desktop is a new grid layout system that gives developers more control over resizing of page elements based on the active resolution of the user.
With Chrome 57 now on the way, the Chrome OS and Android counterparts will be following along shortly. One of the biggest updates for Chrome devices will be the addition of Android Kiosk apps.
While we are fully expecting the Play Store to arrive with Chrome OS 58, we can’t help but keep our fingers crossed that developers might surprise us next week and Android apps will be front and center on Chromebooks everywhere.
