After a report only a few days ago, the LastPass extension that was broken and crashing on Linux and Chrome OS looks to be back in working order.
If you are still having issue with LastPass as an extension, the fix is both quick and easy.
Replace or Repair
There are two paths to remedying the situation. First, if you are like me, you still have the broken/crashed extension installed. If you navigate to settings > more tools > extensions and scroll around to find LastPass, you’ll see the word ‘repair’ next to the extension.
Clicking that simply removes and re-installs the extension automatically.
Alternatively, you can right-click the extension in your omnibar and select remove from Chrome, head to the web store and re-install the extension.
Either way, if you get the old version off your device and re-install version 4.1.64, your LastPass should be back to normal.
Not Perfect
So, after a few weeks of inconvenience, LastPass has responded and fixed the issue. If you recall, I went through a similar issue with Google Password Manager, but it was a couple months and nothing worked. It wasn’t an inconvenience: it was a terrible mess.
All I’m saying is no password manager is perfect. No software is perfect. All of it is susceptible to issue and broken features. The way LastPass responded and corrected the issue makes me at least feel like they are listening and trying to respond appropriately when these things happen.
So, good on you LastPass.
