The Acer Chromebook 15 has proven itself to be a more-than-capable device with more configurations than we can keep track off. The Intel Core i3 model is a powerhouse for users with a heavy workload and the need to multi-task.
For moderate use, the Acer Chromebook 15 equipped with the Intel Celeron 3205U and 4GB of RAM can offer a great Chrome OS experience without the cost of the Core processor.
Normally priced at $300 or more, The 15.6″ HD (1366×768) Acer can be picked up today from Best Buy for a cool $172. This unit is refurbished but don’t let that scare you away. I used a recertified model like this (add 1080HD) for months over the summer and came across nothing it couldn’t handle in my daily workflow.
Here’s a quick rundown of the specs:
-
CPU Intel Celeron 3205U / 1.5 GHz
-
Cache 2 MB
-
4 GB RAM
-
LCD Backlight Technology
-
15.6″ Display 1366 x 768 ( HD )
- 32GB SSD
- SD card multimedia reader
Did we mention the Acer 15 has gotten better with age? Read more here about how Chrome OS is getting better benchmark scores now than when the Acer ran Chrome OS 53. Pretty impressive to say the least.
Best Buy is also advertising a 1 year warranty which is very unusual for a refurbished unit but hey, if they’re offering it I’d take it. Oddly enough, your purchase will also land you a 6 month subscription to Kaspersky’s anti-virus which I suppose you could gift to a Windows pal or make use of the Android/iOS versions if you feel so inclined.
Either way, this is a great deal on a very capable Chromebook with a lot of display real estate. Not to mention those deck-mounted, upward-firing speaker. Still some of the best sound around the world of Chrome OS.
