As multiple sites in the U.K. have started listing higher-end models of the Asus Chromebook Flip C302 for pre-sale, the manufacturers United Kingdom domain has updated the products landing page with eight different configurations.
That’s right, EIGHT variations of Asus’ answer to the Samsung Chromebook Plus/Pro. Details are still a little vague as Asus’ “where to buy” links lead to only two different resellers who have limited features listed for the devices. Aside from the original Core m3 model from Amazon, the new Chromebooks are all listed on uk.insight.com with CCL Computers also carrying the Core m3 GB RAM model. Also of note, a number of the listings have the devices at 11.6″. Obviously not quite up-to-date info on the Chromebook.
As in our previous article, none of these sites are listing the higher-end models as “in stock.” They are, however, offering the devices for pre-order. With Asus listing them on their site it’s likely we will see the release of the newest models very soon.
This comes as a bit of a surprise as the Pentium and base Core m3 models are still the only two listed on the Asus U.S. site. The surprise is an encouraging one for the countless who have asked when, “will the Chromebook market make a bigger global footprint?”
Could Asus be taking the first step in breaking the wall that has limited the Chromebook market worldwide? We sincerely hope so.
