Acer Chromebook 11 Core i5 Now Available

Google’s Pixelbook will soon grace the homes of many who are looking for the latest, greatest Chrome OS device on the market. For those looking for a powerful Chromebook sans the $1000+ price tag, Acer just released the latest iteration of the Chromebook 11 and this one offers an Intel Core i5 processor in a compact form-factor.

The Acer Chromebook 11 C771 turned up at Computex earlier this year and we have been eagerly awaiting the unique device’s availability. At around $500, the new Acer has a lot to offer for just about any user.

What makes this Chromebook different than most of the devices on the market isn’t a resume of cutting-edge features but a whole lot of power in a very small space. The 11.6″ rugged Chromebook houses a 6th Gen, Intel Skylake Core i5 processor, 8GB RAM and 64GB storage.

It’s still a bit unclear who Acer is targeting with the Acer Chromebook 11 but I can imagine it would make a great enterprise device for companies looking to deploy field units that can stand up to a beating. Built off of the same baseboard as the Acer 14 for Work, the Acer 11 should be a beast for even power users.

The C771 Chromebook offers military-grade impact resistance, tamper-proof keys and a spill-resistant keyboard that is capable of channeling up to 330ml of liquid away from internal components in a single spill.

Oh yeah, did I mention it has a touchscreen? Well, it does.

Here’s a rundown of what the new Acer Chromebook 11 has to offer.

  • Chrome OS
  • Intel Skylake Core i5 processor 6200U 2.3GHz
  • 8GB RAM
  • 64GB eMMC storage
  • 11.6″ 1366×768 IPS Touch display
  • 180° fold-flat design
  • Impact resistant chassis
  • spill-resistant, tamper-proof keyboard
  • 2 x USB 3.0
  • 1 x USB-C 3.1
  • MicroSD
  • Full-size HDMI
  • 11.7 in x 8.2 in x 0.8 in
  • 2.98 lbs

With the small display and significantly fewer pixels to push, the Acer C771 should perform magnificently compared to devices with QHD screens. We’re very anxious to get our hands on this one and share our thoughts with you. If the Core i5 is a bit more than you’re looking for, the Acer 11 comes in a Celeron version with touch or traditional displays for around $300.

You can pick up the Acer 11 Core i5 from a number of resellers on Amazon at the link below. More buying options should be coming soon including Acer direct.

  • It good idea making powerful chromebook but the size matter, until they start making 15.6 screen then I know they are seriously doing good job, when Acer made Chromebook 15, C910, it was hard enough to get one, And still hard to get it now, it simply not available, got to order from America only, just very shamefully those behind chromebook sales.

  • Dear Acer,

Here is my Christmas wish list:

    I would like to have the C771 with a fanless Pentium N4200 and 4GB / 32GB. At 11.6-inches, I can live with 1366x768 IPS. Non-touch please.

    I would also like a 13.3 inches version, with 1920x1080 non-touch IPS.

    Thanks in advance.

  • In digging around on this new device I found an older Chrome Unboxed article that said it may come with i5, i3, and Celereon 3855u processors, and 4-8 GB's RAM. Possibly the storage will be 32 and 64 GB's? I could not find any site that revealed if this is true, or not, now that the device is for sale. Looks like it is going for $535 right now. If any of you guys find a site where we can see all the options and the pricing please tell us where it is.

    • As far as I can tell, there isn't an i3 model. Acer has three models listed. Core i5 with touch and two Celeron. One touch, one non-touch. Will keep you updated if anything changes.

      • Thanks, Gabe! I was referring to your article 8/9/17, letting us all know that this device was "Teased at Computex". You said it was coming with either an i5, i3, or Celeron 3855u processor options. To be truthful, I really don't want to "go off" for $535+ buckeroos, especially if I think that an i5 is overkill for my usage.

I gotta have a touchscreen, the 180 degree on this model will do as I rarely have my current C100PA in tablet mode anyway, and as far as performance, an i3 with 6-8 Ram and 32 GB storage should suit me just fine. This Celeron 3855u that you mentioned in your article as being an option in this device, what can you tell us about it?

I am itching to ditch my C100PA. It's slow and gags on too many open tabs. It is also not ruggedized and I dropped it and cracked the screen soon after I bought it. This Acer you write about really has my attention but I don't know where to order it, a place where I can also discuss the options I want etc. Any help you can give me greatly appreciated!

    • juan - This C771 is close, but we gotta see the options and pricing so we can build our own package. For once, I want to have a Chromebook made for me. I was ready to pull the trigger on the HP educational model with 8 GB RAM but Robby "panned" this device in his review so I backed off on it.

      • Not true....a samsung tab s3 with a 9.7 inch screen is quad HD and text is perfectly fine. Also, the ipad pro 10.5 with a nearly quadHD screen and text is perfectly fine. There are settings to change fonts.

  • That 720p screen ruined this device...could have been a real tablet replacement if it was thin enough etc....
