We haven’t spoken much about ‘Cheza’ and Qualcomm-powered Chromebooks in quite a while around here. To be honest, I fully expected to see something from this entire effort at CES or at MWC last week, but we’re still waiting to actually see something emerge from Qualcomm or any other manufacturer.

Snapdragon Chromebook ‘Cheza’ Ushers In Updated Linux Kernel
Currently, the most recent version of the Linux kernel that can be found in a Chromebook is 4.4 and that only includes a relatively small percentage of all the Chrome devices on the market. With the exception of older Baytrail devices, kernel version 4.4 is found exclusively in Kaby Lake, Apollo Lake and OP1(RockChip RK3399) […]
Continue ReadingQualcomm Snapdragon 845 Chromebook ‘Cheza’ Shows Up In GeekBench With Low Scores
In the past couple months, we’ve been a bit overwhelmed with new Chromebook models left and right. From HP, Dell, Google, Lenovo, and Acer, the new mid-to-high-end Chromebooks have been great and we’ve really enjoyed working through reviews for each. As excited as we’ve been by all these devices, there is a new frontier we’ve […]
Continue ReadingQualcomm Snapdragon 845 Chromebook ‘Cheza’ Gets Google Assistant Button, New Keyboard Layout
From time to time, Chromebooks we track in the repositories end up taking unexpected shifts or getting scrapped altogether. It’s almost impossible to say why, but things don’t always work out the way we expect them to. Such is the case – at least in part – with the Chromebook we only know as ‘Cheza’ […]
Continue ReadingQualcomm Powered Chromebook ‘Cheza’ To Feature LTE & eSIM
One of the things my first real Chromebook came equipped with was wireless network access. The HP Chromebook 14 (the first device I did an unboxing of) came with a free, paltry amount of data each month from T-Mobile. If you wanted, you could up that amount and pay for a data plan, but I […]
Continue ReadingMore Details Emerge on ‘Cheza’, The First Qualcomm Powered Chromebook
It’s been about six months since news of the existence of the first-ever Qualcomm-powered Chromebook codenamed ‘Cheza’ surfaced. Though a few new details have emerged lately about this unreleased device, we’ve known about its existence for some time now. Since that unveiling all the way back in December, we’ve not seen much in the way […]
Continue ReadingQualcomm Snapdragon 845 Chromebook? Meet Cheza
While we are certainly expecting Chrome OS to continue to expand into a much larger mainstream market, news today of a Snapdragon Chromebook in development came as quite a surprise to me. We’re still anxiously awaiting AMD devices to be officially announced but a Chrome OS device powered by Qualcomm was really a back-burner project […]
Continue ReadingThe powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 8cx could be on the way for future Chromebooks
While not yet confirmed, it looks like we could be seeing the powerful, flagship-ready Snapdragon 8cx in a Chromebook at some point down the road. While we’re still awaiting signs of the latest mid-range chip (the Snapdragon 7c+ Gen 3) from Qualcomm to show up in a Chromebook, it appears work is actively being done […]

At this point in 2021, it feels like we could wake any given day to news that either ‘Coachz’ or ‘Homestar’ are officially hitting the market. After all, the development cycle for the Snapdragon 7c on Chromebooks has been a long, drawn-out affair, reaching all the way back to December of 2017. We reported back […]
Continue ReadingTwo new Snapdragon SC7280 Chromebook boards enter development
While we’re still in the speculation phase about what chip the SC7280 actually is, it doesn’t mean that development isn’t already cruising along on new boards housing the mysterious silicon from Qualcomm. I still feel confident that the SC7280 is simply a newer generation of the Snapdragon 7c we’ll soon see available inside a few […]
Continue ReadingExpect an absolute avalanche of Chromebooks in all shapes and sizes in 2021 [VIDEO]
We can all agree that 2020 hasn’t exactly been the best year. One for the record books? Sure. But for all the wrong reasons. While it’s turned out to be a year that most of us would like to forget, I’m reminded that even in the midst of mess, there can be good there, too. […]

You read that right! We have our hands on the world’s first Chromebook powered by the Snapdragon 7c from Qualcomm. Though this device won’t debut for a few months at this point, there’s still a lot to love about what we’ve already been able to test and we want to share those first impressions with […]
Continue Reading‘Limozeen’ Chromebook begins development, proves Snapdragon Chromebooks are still coming
It’s been a minute since we found a new Qualcomm Snapdragon-powered Chromebook beginning development. For those unaware, we’ve had eyes on a Qualcomm Chromebook for quite a long time at this point. Originally started with the ‘Cheza’ baseboard and based on the Snapdragon 845, the idea of a Chromebook with a Snapdragon processor inside has […]
Continue ReadingSnapdragon Chromebook ‘Lazor’ shows Pixel 4a-like speeds in Geekbench
One of the places we keep a regular eye on is the Geekbench results page. As time passes in 2020 and we just keep adding more and more in-development Chromebooks to our list of devices we’re tracking, it becomes a bigger undertaking each and every month to try and find new nuggets of info on […]
